MAC X Hayley Williams!

OK, so I told myself that I wasn't going to purchase anything from the MAC and Hayley Williams collaboration. HOWEVER I was kind of obsessed with swatches of the Mineralized Skinfinish in Lightscapade that I ultimately caved and bought it. What a splurge. But it's a heavenly highlighting shade and it's not so severe that it sparkles and makes me look like a disco ball. It's perfect for light skinned ladies and it has a silver candlelight color. So soft, subtle and gorgeous *sigh*

This makeup look was inspired by Hayley's NYLON magazine cover look ;)

MAC's Heroine

Heroine, Heroine, Heroine...what can I say about this lipstick?
It's perfect, amazing, gorgeous, sexy, bold, beautiful...I can seriously keep going.
Heroine is one of my favorite lipsticks ever. The color is obviously purple but it's more on the magenta side than it is on the blue side. So it's everyday wearable without being too sci-fi looking. It's a gorgeous hue and naturally I was over the moon when I heard that it was coming back this spring with MAC's fashion sets. I still have my tube from my purchase last year, but I had to buy another one obviously. *_*
I didn't end up getting the matching lipliner because NYX's Purple Rain is a total dupe. It matches the lipstick perfectly, yay!!

Kat Von D "Saint Palette"

So I went into Sephora a few weeks ago for an interview...I didn't get it the job BTW -__- ...but anyway, I was looking at all the new products and came across the Kat Von D makeup line. I used to be obsessed with her and when she first came out with a makeup like I was excited. The first thing and only thing I ever bought from her line was the "True Love" eyeshadow palette. It's now discontinued, but I use it at least once a week and I've only reached pan on two or three out of the 8 shades.
The colors are gorgeous but the consistency is not supreme quality, but no matter. The colors are still gorgeous and very workable.
When I came across this new palette of all neutrals, I was excited! I don't own any of the Naked palettes mostly because of price. So after swatching the palette in store and dreaming about it for a week after our first meeting I decided to purchase it. It also comes with a black waterproof pencil. Price tag $43+ tax.
The colors are buttery smooth and soft. The only con is that it's a bit too soft and it falls. With some primer, these shadows are great:)

Hayley Williams Inspired Makeup Looks

I recreated Hayley's look from the April issue of AP magazine. The look is striking, bold and in your face. Hayley ALWAYS takes chances with her makeup, and I really respect that. Sometimes it turns out crazy and weird, but you have to admire her for stepping outside the box and having fun with it :)

This look was inspired the makeup she had for her Nylon cover! Classic orange lips and black winged liner a la Hayley!

The main products I used to complete both of these looks were:
The BH day and night palette, BH Blush palette, revlon black cherry lipstick (for the first look), Personelle Poppy lipliner and MAC's betty bright lipstick for the second look. :)

Just started my first day at a salon!
I was hired as a makeup artist to replace the main makeup artist and help for weddings and such.
It's a lot of standing around and smiling and greeting people.
It's unlike anything I've ever done before, since I've never worked in a salon prior to this job.
I have to say, freelancing is so much nicer because I am my own boss  and can do what I like as far as makeup is concerned. At the salon you really have to focus on what the client wants or doesn't want but that's completely fine. In any case, you have to pay attention to what your client wants no matter what, so it's basically the same thing except that i'm not my own boss.
All in all, I enjoyed my first day and can't wait to put makeup on more and more people and gain loads of experience! What I've learned so far is that great customer service is a must as well as a strong confidence in my ability as a makeup artist!

Oh, and I got to practice applying individual false eyelashes for the first time! Takes some practice but nothing severely complicated :)

That's it for now,

Just ordered a 15 piece Bobbi Brown brush set from Ebay as well as a makeup belt because honestly, I need it pretty badly for when I'm on the job :)
