Just started my first day at a salon!
I was hired as a makeup artist to replace the main makeup artist and help for weddings and such.
It's a lot of standing around and smiling and greeting people.
It's unlike anything I've ever done before, since I've never worked in a salon prior to this job.
I have to say, freelancing is so much nicer because I am my own boss  and can do what I like as far as makeup is concerned. At the salon you really have to focus on what the client wants or doesn't want but that's completely fine. In any case, you have to pay attention to what your client wants no matter what, so it's basically the same thing except that i'm not my own boss.
All in all, I enjoyed my first day and can't wait to put makeup on more and more people and gain loads of experience! What I've learned so far is that great customer service is a must as well as a strong confidence in my ability as a makeup artist!

Oh, and I got to practice applying individual false eyelashes for the first time! Takes some practice but nothing severely complicated :)

That's it for now,

Just ordered a 15 piece Bobbi Brown brush set from Ebay as well as a makeup belt because honestly, I need it pretty badly for when I'm on the job :)
yay!

My easter makeup look! Wanted to create a colorful look for spring.
I used my 88 eyeshadow palette, using bright pink, orange and dark purple for the cut crease.
on the bottom I added a light blue to green gradient. For the final touches I added a thin line of black liner, lots of black mascara and white liner on my waterline. For the cheeks, a little bit of dollymix by MAC and I used MAC's candy yum yum and flamingo on my lips :)

I recently bought a new lipstick from the new MAC Reel Sexy Collection which is gorgeous and based on cinematic themes. The colors are pretty, spring like and fun! I bought Heroine which is amazing medium shade of purple. Looks dark in the tube but goes on like a fuschia purple: It's gorgeous and matte, which I really wanted! :)

I'm going to use this blog to post pictures of makeup on myself and on others and my process as a novice makeup artist :)

A little bit about me!

I am an aspiring makeup artist and photographer.
I believe that makeup should be used to accentuate and enhance one's own beauty as well as using it to express oneself creatively.
I specialize in beauty makeup for the everyday and for special glammed up occasions, however I am also able to apply Halloween makeup, and specialty makeup- nothing is ever too easy or too hard for me!
My name is Caroline, I was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec Canada and I've been obsessed with makeup since I first saw my mom applying her lipstick.
My passion for makeup and the arts led me to pursue a creative and artistic learning endeavors; I received my Bachelors degree of Fine Arts major Art Education from Concordia University.

There is not one day that goes by where I'm not doing something artistic, whether it's: taking photographs, drawing, painting or creating new makeup looks, my passion is most definitely in this field.
I chose the name CarolinaCupcake because a) Carolina is my nickname and I love it :) and b) I've always been obsessed with cupcakes; cute, small and delicious. If someone wasn't feeling good I would bake cupcakes for them in hopes of cheering them up! They are pretty, colorful and fun to decorate, just like a blank canvas- I feel that makeup, painting, and decorating all involve one thing- creativity and the love of color and blending; transcending boundaries!
